Case Study 4 - Upper Aparima Catchment Group
This 222.3 ha dairy farm is a mixture of 95.1 ha rolling/easy hill and 127.2 ha Flat terrain.
Milking 600 cows peak producing 322,080 kg MS. Off farm June and July. Calves off farm from weaning.
Effluent applied to 116 ha.
Crops consist of 8.1 ha kale grazed by late calvers in August/September.
The property is a mixture of pallic and recent soils, and is drained via tile drains.
What's next
We are currently working with the farm owners, Agrimagic, business advisors, friends and catchment group members to workshop mitigations and what next for the farm.
Looking to the future and what can be done on farm to help meet up coming regulations.
